Living on a dumpsite would be really smelly and dangerous. You could prick yourself withe a needle, then that little prick on your finger could get inffected in those conditions. That inffection can lead to illness and sometimes death. Other than that there would be filthy Rats and allot of useless rubbish, and if you only get 3 cents a bag whats the point. The stink would even worse because of left overs, or dead pet birds that someone may have throne away. Living on a dumpsite would every day leave you starved and only just surviving, everyday would be a constant challenge, evry day would make you weak and all the hard effort is to ern what a middle class Australian would only be able to buy a lollie pop or other small sweets. Living on a dumpsite is as Olivia says "a punishment that never ends.
"A dumpsite like Behala is an awful punishment that will never end" This is what Olivia said on page 85. It would be like living in an old smelly dump, having to do the same dirty work to pick up rubbish, just to know that you are going to get paid 3 cents a full bag. That’s not even enough to an apple in Australia. The poor little children that work there don’t need shoe because their feet are already worn out from walking in hard stinky rubbish all day. They can die because of the poverty; say they get bitten by a mosquito that then can cause an illness which can further lead to death. Working on a dumpsite let alone living on it is far to dangerous for children under the age of 10 to be working at. In other words Behala is far to dangerous to live and work at.
Living on a dumpsite as child would be dangerous and scary. You would spend your life picking up things and crossing your fingers that it would be enough to help support your family. Your not educated and you'll spend your whole life trying to think what life would be like not living there. It would dangerous, stink and scare people. Living off other peoples wastes is like the lifestyle of a rat. Living there as a child just terrifies me. Children should be learning their abc, playing with friends and living the life of a regular kid not picking up scraps enough to make money for food and water for your family it just isn't fair. To me I think the government should do something now before more lives are lost. These poor innocent children shouldn't have to challenge themselves everyday to earn a living for their family it isn't fair!! Watching them starve and live life uneducated is what scares me the most.
I think if I had to work at a dumpsite like where Raphael works it would be horrible and it would make me miserable. Working through rubbish all day and night would be very hazerdous to me and my health. It would be disgusting and filthy, my clothes would be ripped and dirty. I wouldn't have shoes so my feet would smell bad and would be so dirty. Life on a dumpsite seems very bad, even for a child because it would be completly scary and lonely. My only friends would be the other scared children and the rats. Working on a dumpsite especialy like the dumpsite at Behala would be completly depressing, even for children that are out there all day working through mud and filth. Kids should be outside playing with their friends instead of being outside picking through dirty rubbish. If I was working at a dumpsite I would take my family and friends and run away.
I think that living on a dumpsite will be very diffult, since we live the luxury of todays world.A dumpsite is very smelly and very unsafe to work let alone live in. Its sad to think that people do live like this and it is very upsetting to see and hear people living in such poor conditions.I wouldnt like to wake up every day early in the morning working, sweating and getting dirty, till the end of the day for only the bare minium. Hills of rubbish and the stinking of stuppa.I think the worse thing would be that the dumpsite comes alive at night with all the filthy, dirty stinking rats. Living as a dumpsite girl wouldnt be the best thing to do but people have no choice. At the age when they can walk they are trown into the trash to collect valubles. Everyday is the same over and over again, i think it will be really boring and very drity to work and live in.
I think living in a dumpsite would be a very hard life to live through. Knowing I have no future like other children do, hurts because every day I would wake up with mountains of trash ahead of me. Also It's very dirty and un-hygienic. And very dangerous with no shoes on, I could step on glass and cut myself, It would be easy to get an infection. It disgusts me even thinking of living is such poor conditions. There are many possibilities that could happen, I could get sick easily, I would be pretty hungry because I would only eat a very little bit each day. Living, Breathing and sleeping through the dirty dumpsite would be horrible. And going through this all day just for a few cents, just enough to live if you think about it. I would hate my life and I wouldn't even want to live.
I think living in a dumpsite would be unpleasant and unbearable to live in. It would be filled with trash and human waste. Working all day and all night, sorting through unwanted trash and earning money just to survive for one day! In order to live the next, you would have to work hard and overcome difficult obstacles. You could easily become ill and catch dangerous diseases and most likely die. Living in a ‘hut’ lying between mountains of trash would be rather uncomfortable due to the horrific stench and creatures lurking in the night. Children are unable to live a pleasant childhood and have to spend the rest of their lives working among rubbish. Young children constantly contemplating about how their future will turn out to be, knowing that their future would be living and working among trash. Young children do not deserve to live this sort of life, it isn’t right!
Living in a dump site would be a horrible way to live. The smell would be horrendous, the smoke would be blinding and you would be living like rats. It would be like "A punishment that never ends", and in my opinion is basically like a dead end job. No matter how hard you work, you will always be doomed to live in rubbish and be labelled a "Street boy". You would work from when you could walk until your over 70 years old. To think of a 3 year old walking on piles of rubbish and going through "stupp" would break your heart. It should be stopped.

ReplyDeleteTo live and work on in Behala dumpsite as a child would be a terrible life.
ReplyDeleteTrash is a haven for germs, so a simple cut could turn get terribly infected and could even be lethal.
Diseases and Viruses thrive in the trash too, so many kids could have a terrible illness like AIDS.
Every day kids have to scanvenge through miles and miles of stuppa to find thing to sell.
Most things are only sold at a fraction of their proper value and kids earn just enough to buy thier family a meal.
Even then, this meal only sustains them until the next day, so they can scanvenge all over again.
It is a terrible cycle that will never end until a person is too old to work and must sit by his/her shack all day.
The kids of Behala are, like Olivia said, "Doomed to breath the stink, day in and day out".
